Tips for Sending Fragile Parcels

Sending fragile parcels throughout the UK can leave you on tenterhooks until the recipient has received it. You may be sending a loved one or friend an unexpected present and you want to ensure it gets there in one piece. There are a few things you can do to increase the chances of your parcel getting there in one piece.

The first thing that the sender should do is decide on what type of delivery service they are going to choose. If the item you are sending does not have a high monetary or sentimental value and it is small (a glass or small vase for example) you could use a normal parcel delivery service.

If the item is large and/or of high monetary or sentimental value then you should use a well established company as this will provide you with the peace of mind you require. Any parcel labelled “Fragile” will be seen as high importance and they will take good care of it.

You may want to take a few pictures of the product before you send it to show there are no or minimal scratches or marks on them. If you do this, if the item is delivered and it is broken or has scratches or marks on you can claim the package was not handled with care.

Wrapping the item is always a good way to add a level of protection, bubble wrap is very cheap to buy and carefully wrapping the item in it can really help minimise the chances of the item breaking or being damaged. Once you have wrapped the item, tape it carefully to further secure it and finally find a suitably sized box that the item will fit into comfortably.

When you place the item in the box fill any space around it with extra bubble wrap to stop the product from sliding. This is important as there will always be a few bumps and turns for the package to endure on its way so ensuring it is tightly packed will reduce the chances of it breaking.

Ensure the box is firmly shut so to make sure the product will not fall out, you should double seal the box top and bottom with tape. After that it is just the matter of adding the “Fragile” stickers to the box and hand delivering the parcel to the delivery company. Then sit back and wait for the recipient to receive the parcel. Easy.
